Speedy the Spider

Hey guys. I know I have been away for a while and I simply do not know how to get enough time to write a complete post. I’m very sorry for this. As it is Halloween today, I would like to show you something different.

Let me introduce to you.. Speedy the Spider!

polymer clay spider charm

This is my polymer clay charm for halloween this year and I love it. :D Speedy is very special. A special pumpkin spider. He appears at unexpected places only on 31th October and usually scares the crap out of everybody. But actually, there is no need to worry: Speedy is not poisonous or evil. See the heart on his back? Yeah. Speedy simply loves pumpkins. As there are loads of them to be found on Halloween, he starts his search for the most delious pumpkin treat and the best carved pumpkin. But it happens ever so often, that a person, who wants to eat a treat or have a closer look at the pumpkin lantern sees Speedy during his inspection. This is when the terrible stuff happens. People scream and run away, some even try to smash the spider. Poor Speedy. When Speedy realized people were so scared and dicgusted because of him, he decided that something had to be changed. So he painted an orange heart on his back, so people would know that it is just the pumpkin inspector who wants to have a closer look at a Halloween treat or decoration. Unfortunately, many people do not understand the sidn on Speedy’s back, so they start hunting him all over the place until he can hide somewhere. But you guys know know how to recognize him. So – if you ever see a spider on Halloween, don’t smash it immediately, please, make sure first, it is not our pumpkin friend.

And who knows – maybe he will appear at your party and do his inspection. Maybe you have the best pumpkin this year?

Halloween Cheesecake

Are you still looking for a halloween treat? I have got one for you. I mean, it is not especially a halloween dessert, but i think it suits the occasion with the right decoration… I hope you guys like cheesecake. If you do, you will love this. If not, you will possibly like it as well :D.

oreo and blueberry cheesecake

The cheese batter is a good classic recipe I found in Dr. Oetker`s book “Cheesecakes”. To make it suitable for halloween, i topped it with oreo crumbles and blueberries. This way it looked black, a good ground for those cute chocolates.

Chocolate and Caramel Rice Krispie Treats

Chocolate and Caramel Rice Krispie Treats (Lion Cereals)

I like to have something with milk for breakfast at the weekend. Mostly I eat oatmeal or some granola with fruit or wheat cornflakes… not that sweet stuff. But one day I had a craving for this caramel chocolate crunch… LION CEREALS!

Chocolate and Caramel Rice Krispie Treats (Lion Cereals)

So what to do now? Search for a good rice krispie treats recipe. I found one on Bakers Royale, a very good one. As there is a chocolate topping and some chocolate inthe marshmallow mass, I added some super chewy caramel toffees. :)

2 tbsp butter
60 g (2 oz) chocolate chips
150 g (10 1/2 oz) marshmallows
6 cups Lion Cereals
12 caramel toffees

180g (6 oz) semi-sweet chocolate
3 tbsp butter
6 caramel toffees

Butter your pan. Cut the caramel toffees into small cubes and set aside. Melt the chocolate chips, butter and marshmallows in a large saucepan over low (!) heat. Stir constantly until the mass is smooth. Add the Lion Cereal and caramel toffee and combine quickly. Transform the mixture into the prapared pan and press it down using a spoon. Let cool for at least 30 minutes.

To prepare the topping, cut again the toffee into small cubes. Melt the chocolate together with the butter in 3 or 4 steps à 30 seconds in the microwave or over a water bath. When the mixture is smooth, pour it on top of the rice krispie treats and spread it evenly. Don’t forget to spread the cut toffee on top :).
